Serving The Town of Colonie, N.Y. since 1926
We are 100% volunteerOn February 21, 2022, just before 2AM, the Fuller Road Fire Department was dispatched, along with mutual aid from the Duty Crew Engine (Rescue 9 from Shaker Road Fire Department), West Albany Fire Department with Engine 459, the Fast Team from Colonie Village Fire Company and Colonie EMS for multiple calls for a house explosion in the area of 18 Spruce Street. Car 22 Mike Romano, who was Incident Command, relayed a Signal 30 to Dispatch. Upon arrival, he notified all crews that 20 Spruce Street is the location of the fire, with fire impinging on 18 Spruce Street. Midway Fire Department and Stanford Heights Fire Department from the Town of Colonie, Westmere Fire Department and McKnownville Fire Department from the Town of Guilderland, were dispatched for additional mutual aid. North Bethlehem Fire Department arrived at the scene for rehab for all the Firefighters, Police and EMS crews on scene. While extinguishing the fire, the water pressure from the hydrants on Spruce Street that were supplying water to Rescue 9 and Engine 459 became weak resulting in the hydrant located on Fuller Road to be used. Shortly after losing water pressure, the road under Rescue 9 collapsed forcing Rescue 9 to stop flowing water, to be able to move the apparatus to a safer part of the road.
Photos from the fire were taken by Sidewinder Photography (Jeffrey Belschwinder), Photos by Truck (Lori Washburn) and KM Curran Photography (Kevin Curran). Thank you to these photographers for documenting this fire. Photos from our calls are used for training and after incident critiques.
